Envelopes are available in many different sizes and types of paper. DFI can supply a wide range of standard envelope sizes as well as any custom envelope product. It's a good idea to choose an envelope that is about 1/4" larger than both the height and the width of the piece you are mailing. This allows for easy insertion but controls possible damage to the enclosure by minimizing excess space.
We have summarized standard envelope types for your convenience:
- Window Envelopes - Allows the name and address on enclosures to show. Used for Invoices, statements, paychecks, receipts and more.
- Booklet Envelopes - Side with opening allows for overall printing. Used for booklets, catalogs, folders and more.
- Announcement Envelopes - Designed for use with matching text and cover papers.
- Remittance Envelopes - Large flap is useful for printing additional messages and offers. Used for direct mail, coupons, applications, statements and more.
- Baronial Envelopes - Formal style envelopes with large pointed flap. Used for invitations, announcments, greeting cards and more.
- Catalog Envelopes - Large envelopes used for catalogs, magazines, folders, reports and more.
- Ticket Envelopes - Used for movie, concert and theater tickets.
- Policy Envelopes - Used for insurance polices, bonds, mortgages and legal papers.
- Metal Clasp Envelopes - Similar to the catalog style, but with a metal clasp allowing for multiple openings and closings.
- Wallet Flap Envelopes - Used for statements and other documents that require a stronger envelope for added protection.
- Coin Envelopes - Small envelopes used for coins, small parts and more. Most coin envelopes are not mailable.
Envelopes are most commonly converted from 'text' weight papers. Weight is important for many reasons. Thickness represents a nice quality and durability, but can also add to the weight of your mailing in which you may incur additional postage. It is important to determine the purpose of your project and potential weight of the complete mailing. Your DFI Sales Representative is trained to help you choose the right envelope for every project. |
